Another week, another ranked foe set to occupy the sideline opposite of the No. 15 Texas Longhorns (7-3, 5-2). This time around, it’s the No. 16 Iowa State Cyclones (6-3, 5-2), which are riding a five-game winning streak into a Saturday night showdown with Big 12 title implications on the line.
For both, Texas and Iowa State, a loss effectively ends any conference championship aspirations, and furthermore, a Longhorns loss would send the graduating class off with yet another Senior Night loss — Texas hasn’t won on Senior Night since 2013.
If that streak is going to snap on Saturday evening, it will have to come against a red-hot Iowa State team headlined by the Big 12’s top defense and a budding star in true freshman quarterback Brock Purdy.
