AUSTIN, Texas — The 15th-ranked University of Texas baseball team tossed its first shutout of the year, beating Incarnate Word, 6-0, on Tuesday night at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
Texas (6-1) held the nation's top offensive team to just two hits and a pair of walks, facing four batters over the minimum.
Freshman right-hander Jason Flores (1-0) set the tone against the Cardinals (7-2), pitching three scoreless frames in his collegiate debut.
Flores went six up and six down before inducing an inning-ending double play to work around a couple of base runners in the third.
