The No. 13 Texas Longhorns picked up a much-needed series sweep after defeating the Xavier Musketeers on Sunday afternoon, 6-5. With the win, the Longhorns improve to 20-11 overall.
The sweep should provide a much-needed confidence boost for this Texas club who is set to host long-time rival Texas A&M on Tuesday night.
Texas jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first after Xavier SP Conor Grammes struggled to find the strike zone, issuing five free passes in the inning. Two of which came with the bases loaded.
Starting pitcher Coy Cobb struggled briefly in the top of the third inning after hitting the leadoff batter, who eventually came across to score after stealing second base and advancing and scoring on a pair of ground outs.
