AUSTIN, Texas – Following a historic, record-breaking three-game series at Texas Tech over the weekend, Texas sophomore Reese Atwood has been named the Big 12 Conference, D1Softball and NFCA's Player of the Week, all three organizations announced Tuesday morning.
Atwood was instrumental in helping the top-ranked Texas Longhorns to their first regular season conference championship since the 2010 season as the led the Big 12 in batting average (.700), hits (7), hits per game (2.33), home runs (4), runs batted in (13), total bases (19), slugging percentage (1.900) and fielding percentage (1.000). Her four home runs were double as many as the next closest Big 12 student-athlete, while her 13 RBI on the weekend were more than double the next closest non-UT student-athlete.
