AUSTIN, Texas – It was only a matter of when, not if Reese Atwood would break Texas' single-season runs batted in (RBI) record. And that when occurred during the Longhorns' 8-0 thumbing of Iowa State in game one of Saturday's twin bill, before, the freshly-minted record was re-written, again, during UT's 9-1 victory in the series finale.
After tying the record in the top of the fifth inning of Texas' 7-0 win at Kansas six days ago, Atwood went 10 at bats sitting at 66 RBI before sending a 0-1 pitch in the bottom of the fourth 251 feet for a two-out, two-run home run to double the Longhorns' lead from 2-0 to 4-0.
