AUSTIN, Texas – For the 24th time in program history, The University of Texas' softball program will participate in the NCAA Division I Softball Championship as the Longhorns were not only selected as one of the 16 regional host programs but also as the tournament's number one overall seed for the first time in the program's history.
The number one ranking is the highest by a Texas softball program since earning the third seed for the 2011 tournament. Sunday's honor also marked the first time the program has earned a national seed — one through 16 — in back-to-back seasons since 2012 and 2013.
