HOUSTON, Texas – No. 1 Texas Baseball dropped its first game of the season, falling to UCLA, 5-1, on Sunday at the Shriner's Children's College Classic at Minute Maid Park.
The Longhorns (11-1) will head back to central Texas to play a pair of midweek games against Texas State. The Longhorns and Bobcats will play Tuesday in San Marcos and Wednesday at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
UCLA scored the first run of the game in the top of the third, starting the inning with a double that came around to score on a sacrifice fly.
Ivan Melendez tied the game up 1-1 in the fourth inning with a solo homer, blasted over the train tracks in left field.
