The Brooklyn Nets selected University of Texas freshman center Jarrett Allen with the 22nd overall pick Thursday night in the NBA Draft, which was held in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
The 6-foot-11 Allen averaged 13.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in his only season at Texas.
“I think my role will be as a rim protector, being athletic and guard guards on the pick and roll,” Allen said during an ESPN interview.
He shot 56 percent from the field with 25 games of 10 or more points and 14 games with 10 or more rebounds.
