The NCAA just keeps playing the role of villain, even in the midst of the novel coronavirus pandemic. According to a report from Matt Connolly of The State, NCAA rules shut down the GoFundMe support page that Clemson Tigers rising junior quarterback Trevor Lawrence had setup to help the efforts to contain the COVID-19 spread.
Student-athletes are reportedly not allowed to use their image, name, and likeness for crowdfunding. That is why the NCAA rules shut down the COVID-19 fundraising page for Lawrence in the first place.
But this is a battle that is going to go on for a while, and any star athlete like Lawrence that can raise money for the COVID-19 outbreak is a good sign.
