With the Big 12 election not to expand beyond 10 teams, tons of college football pundits have written off the conference's prospects for long-term stability.
While all the teams are tied to the conference through 2025 thanks to TV deals, the thought is that the Big 12 needs to come up with a way to offer the league's biggest draws, Texas and Oklahoma, something worth staying around for.
And Yahoo writer Dan Wetzel thinks he knows just the draw: a Big 12 automatic bid for the College Football Playoff.
Wetzel writes that the Big 12 needs to push for the CFP to expand to a six- or eight-team format with each of the Power Five conferences being given an automatic bid.
