With the No. 149 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks selected former Texas Longhorns punter Michael Dickson.
With his selection, Dickson becomes the third punter drafted in school history, and the first Texas punter drafted since the Chicago Bears selected John Teltschik in ninth round of the 1986 NFL Draft.
Despite struggling with consistency early in his career, Dickson finished his Longhorn career as one of the most decorated special teams player in school history.
Dickson earned honors as the 2017 Ray Guy Award Winner, honoring the nation’s best punter, was selected as the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Year in consecutive years, and capped it off by being named the MVP of the Texas Bowl — the program’s first bowl win since the 2012 Alamo Bowl.
