Athens, Ga. – The Texas Men's Tennis team concluded the Southern Intercollegiate Championships with senior Christian Sigsgaard winning the singles title of the Red Draw and pairing with freshman Siem Woldeab to also take that bracket's doubles title in Athens, Ga., on Sunday.
Sigsgaard, rated the No. 2 singles player by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), downed No. 81 Philip Henning of host Georgia, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2, just after combining with Woldeab to defeat Benjamin Hannestad and Franco Aubone of Miami, 6-0, for the sweep of the titles.
"Overall, the level of competition at the tournament was very strong, so it was a really good opportunity for our team to test themselves," head coach Bruce Berque said.
