Fort Worth – The Texas Men's Tennis team opened play at the TCU Invite on Friday and earned seven wins, including splitting eight singles matches and taking three out of four in doubles.
The Longhorns were facing opponents from Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and host TCU.
Texas won both of its doubles matches against Oklahoma by identical 8-5 scores, including from the pairing of senior Payton Holden and sophomore Siem Woldeab, and from freshman Micah Braswell and sophomore Jacob Bullard. The Longhorns split a pair of doubles matches against Baylor with freshman Leighton Allen and sophomore Eshan Talluri taking a 8-7 (5) tiebreaker win, while sophomore Cleeve Harper and junior Chih Chi Huang narrowly dropped an 8-6 decision.
