PARIS, France — University of Texas rising sophomore Aaron Shackell registered an eighth-place finish in the 400-meter freestyle final on Saturday evening at the Paris Olympic Games inside the Aquatics Centre. In addition, rising junior Hubert Kos helped Hungary to an eighth-place showing in the 4x100-meter freestyle relay final and former Longhorn Caspar Corbeau qualified for the final of the 100-meter breaststroke.
Shackell, who transferred to Texas earlier this summer, posted a time of 3:47.00 in the 400 free final. Lukas Maertens of Germany claimed the gold medal with a mark of 3:41.78.
Kos, who also transferred to Texas earlier this spring, swam the anchor leg for Hungary in the 4x100 free relay final and led his team to an eighth-place result in a time of 3:13.
