ERIN, Wis. – Texas Men's Golf senior Scottie Scheffler fired a 3-under 69 to tie for 11th after the first round of the U.S. Open on Thursday at Erin Hills.
Scheffler finished as the low amateur, trailing by five strokes to leader Rickie Fowler. He started the round with two bogeys on two and seven, but made back-to-back birdies on eight and nine to make the turn at even par. He made two birdies on 12 and 15's par-4s and closed the round on 18's par-5 to finish the round 3-under par.
