AUSTIN, Texas — Down 17-0 late in the second quarter against the No. 4 Texas Longhorns on Saturday at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, the Colorado State Rams called a trick play trying to create big yardage and some momentum against a stingy Longhorns defense.
Lined up in an unusual formation, Colorado State had two wide receivers to the boundary, along with a running back in a wide alignment in the backfield and a tight end in a deep H-back alignment.

At the snap, quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi faked a screen pass to the widest receiver to the boundary and then faked a handoff to the running back, instead trying to throw a pass over the top of the Texas defense intended for star wide receiver Tory Horton, who did have a step on sophomore cornerback Manny Muhammad and senior safety Andrew Mukuba.
