The Texas Longhorns volleyball team punched their ticket to the Sweet 16 for the 10th straight year on Friday night by defeating Purdue.
With the fortunes of Texas football lagging, at least Longhorn fans can still find elite level play on the volleyball court. The Longhorns (27-2) defeated the Purdue Boilermakes 3-1 (25-14, 14-25, 25-19, 27-25) to advance to the program’s 10th straight Sweet 16. Overall, it marks the 28th time Longhorns volleyball has advanced to the Sweet 16.
The Longhorns got a star performance from Big 12 Player Of The Year Amy Neal, who recorded 17 kills during the match, including seven in the third set alone.
