AUSTIN, Texas – The combined events opened the 91st Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays Built By The Home Depot on Wednesday after Mother Nature delayed the start for a few hours, but the Texas Longhorns did not disappoint when they finally got going in the heptathlon and decathlon.
Virginia Preiss and Georgia Wahl set the tone for the women in the heptathlon and senior Wolf Mahler put himself in contention and on the verge of breaking 8,000 points for the first time in his career in the decathlon.
Preiss put together a strong showing in the heptathlon as she posted new personal records in all four of the events held on Day 1.
