Longhorns men’s track team tied for sixth place at NCAAs

Edward Cheserek of Oregon won the men’s 10,000 meters final in 28 minutes, 58.92 seconds for his seventh NCAA individual championship, matching Ducks legend Steve Prefontaine, at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore. on Wednesday.

Texas Longhorn Craig Lutz took fourth place in the event with a time of 29:11.17.

Through six events the Oregon men’s team leads with 34 points. Texas, along with Texas A&M, is tied for sixth place with nine points.

Longhorn Wolf Mahler is in 15th place with 3,855 points after five events of the decathlon. Scott Filip of Rice is third with 4,176 points.
