As the Texas Longhorns prepare for their departure from the conference, the Big 12 has named Texas softball catcher Reese Atwood as this year’s league “Player of the Year.” Atwood, a sophomore, also set the single-season Texas records for home runs, with 21 big at bats this year, and RBIs, with 83, while hitting .433. She leads the U.S in RBIs, as noted by the Corpus Christi Caller Times. Atwood attended high school in the Corpus region.
