The Texas Longhorns were initially set to play Sam Houston State on Sept. 27, 2025.
But the universities announced today that the game has been moved up to Sept. 20.
Why? At least according to the Austin American-Statesman:
“Moving the Sam Houston game up a week gives Texas a bye before it begins conference play this upcoming season. After closing out a non-conference schedule that includes a trip to Ohio State (Aug. 30) and home games against San Jose State (Sept. 6), UTEP (Sept. 13) and Sam Houston, the Longhorns will travel to Florida for their SEC opener on Oct.
