Longhorns Daily News: Pac-12 flirts with media rights disaster, as fallout from Texas, Oklahoma joining SEC continues

CBS Sports reported earlier this week that ESPN is considering dropping out of media deal negotiations with the Pac-12, following a more than year-long will they, or won’t they, saga.

From CBS Sports: “According to sources who have speculated on what a form a Pac-12 deal could find, the league’s Tier I content would likely be categorized as a minimum of two games a week for a rights-holder across a typical 14-week season. Those 28 games may be valued at approximately $200 million, an average of $7 million per game. It has been assumed that an approximate $300 million rights deal might be needed to keep some Pac-12 schools from jumping to the Big 12.
