The Texas Longhorns shook up the college athletics world when it hired Texas A&M baseball head coach Jim Schlossnagle to lead its program in place of fired coach David Pierce. But behind the scenes, the like of Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte weren’t as surprised.
Throughout their coaching search, Del Conte and others always knew Schlossnagle would be the right fit, according to 247Sports. In fact, Del Conte and Schlossnagle worked together during their time at TCU, which is where Texas hired Del Conte away from in 2017.
“I’ve known Coach Schlossnagle for a long time, and there’s no better coach, program builder, and leader in the game, and the best part is he’s an even better person,” Del Conte said, per 247Sports.
