Longhorns Daily News: Aggies spur college football tradition, refuse to play Texas on Thanksgiving weekend

Texas A&M is a school that’s rooted in history, especially its own, and tradition—as ridiculous as the university’s spirit squad (or whatever they’re called) might actually be.

It’s a point of pride for the Aggies, who are known as something of the conservative brother of the state of Texas’ Power Five Conference bunch—perhaps even more so than some of the state’s religious schools with program equivalents, like Baylor, SMU and TCU.

However, tradition goes out the window if it means the Aggies have to play Texas on Thanksgiving weekend, yet again after decades of doing just that in the Big 12, once the two programs resume their football rivalry in the Southeastern Conference later this year.
