Feigen, who swam for Texas from 2009 to 2012, was not a lock to make the US swim team this year but was added to the roster when the 26-man team wasn’t completely filled out. He led things off in the relay with a 48.55 opening leg in the preliminary round. In the final, the team was led by Michael Phelps and posted a time 3:09.92 to capture gold ahead of France (3:10.53) and Australia (3:11.37).
While he was at Texas, Feigen, a freestyle specialist, was the NCAA champion in the 50, 100, and 100X4 meter freestyle in 2012.
