It was the third straight complete game thrown by a Texas pitcher, this time by freshman Connor Mayes, and the shut-out win over the Baylor Bears was enough to help the Longhorns advance to Sunday’s Big 12 Championship game.
The 19-year-old freshman from Lake Travis celebrated his big day in high fashion, throwing a two-hit, complete-game shutout with 10 strikeouts to help the Texas Longhorns drop the Baylor Bears, 4-0, and advance to Sunday’s title game of the Big 12 Baseball Championship in Tulsa.
Sure it’s the off-season, but for Texas football fans, the season is never truly over.
