Myles Turner was selected in the first round of the NBA draft Thursday night, going to the Indiana Pacers with the 11th overall pick. The Big 12 Freshman of the Year becomes the first Longhorn lottery pick since Tristan Thompson was selected as the No. 4 pick of the 2011 Draft.
The 42nd first round pick in school history, Turner could be thrust into a big role early in his career with the Pacers. Forward David West is opting out of his contract and will hit free agency and center Roy Hibbert could follow suit, meaning Turner could be the focus up front for Frank Vogel on the bench and Larry Bird in the front office right away.
