Gilbert Johnson was one of the original “Florida Five”. Now he will join Tim Irvin as the second member of this group to enroll at a different school. Unlike Irvin, grades played a factor in Johnson not suiting up for Texas.
Texas head coach Charlie Strong said wide receiver signee Gilbert Johnson will not be on the team in 2015.
“Gilbert Johnson will go elsewhere next season,” Strong said.
This is the second time in two years Johnson signed with a Division I program and failed to enroll. Out of high school, Johnson originally signed with Georgia, but did not got to the school due to grade issues.
