For the first time this season, the Texas Longhorns will play in an empty stadium this weekend after the Kansas Jayhawks announced that the final two 2020 home football games will not include fans in attendance, KU chancellor Douglas Girod wrote in a Tuesday email to faculty, staff, and students.
Saturday’s game kicks off at 2:30 p.m. Central on ESPN2.
“We know this is disappointing to those of you who planned to be on campus to root for the Jayhawks,” wrote chancellor Douglas Girod. “While we are not aware of any incidents of COVID-19 transmission at any home athletics competitions this year, the recent spike in cases and hospitalizations makes it unwise to host fans at this time.
