Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels sat out the Jayhawks' 40-14 loss to Texas on Saturday after suffering from tightness in his back in pregame warm-ups.
Daniels was not initially ruled out, as Jayhawks coach Lance Leipold said on the ESPN broadcast between the first and second quarters that Daniels was "questionable to doubtful" to play.
But senior Jason Bean stepped in and played the entire game, the 15th start of his Jayhawks career. He finished 9-of-21 passing for 136 yards and a touchdown in the loss.
Daniels, the Big 12's preseason player of the year, also missed the season opener against Missouri State with the back issue, which has lingered since fall camp.
