ALBUQUERQUE, N.M – Jonathan Jones and Tripp Piperi recorded world-leading marks at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic over the weekend.
Jones ran the world-leading 600m dash time with a time of 1:15.12, while Piperi's heave of 21.45m (70-4.50) was the only mark surpassing 21 meters.
Jones' time ranks as the No. 1 time in the world this season, the No. 3 time in NCAA history and No. 7 time in indoor world history. Davicia Patterson won the women's 600m event at 1:29.51 in her season-opener. Jalil Brewer finished second behind Piperi with a throw of 19.
