AUSTIN — The first of three vacancies on Charlie Strong’s coaching staff has been filled.
Texas announced Saturday that Anthony Johnson, who played for the Longhorns a decade ago and spent the last two seasons as an assistant at Toledo, has been hired as UT’s new running backs coach.
Johnson replaces Tommie Robinson, who left UT for USC last month.
Johnson, who was a backup running back for the Longhorns from 2001-’04 and later served as a quality control assistant for coach Mack Brown, brings experience with the up-tempo spread offense being installed at UT by new coordinator Sterlin Gilbert.
