When arrived at Texas in 2012, expectations were sky-high for five-star running back Johnathan Gray. The highly touted back was the 2011 Gatorade National Player of the Year, and became the first two-time winner of the ESPN HS Mr. Football USA award. Needless to say, Longhorns’ fans expected big things from Gray.
Unfortunately he hasn’t quite met those expectations yet, but that might all change this season. On top of being added to the 2015 Doak Walker award watch list (award for the nation’s top running back), Gray has also been named to the 2015 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose award watch list, which honours the top offensive player in the nation who either hails from the state of Texas, graduated from a Texas high school or played at a Texas junior college.
