AUSTIN -- Linebacker Malik Jefferson was named to the Sporting News Freshman All-American Team on Wednesday.
Despite missing the final game of the season due to injury, Jefferson led the team in pressures with six and was second in tackles with 61. He also recorded seven tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery, which he returned for a TD.
Jefferson had already been named to the USA Today Sports Freshman All-America Team, and chosen Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year. Offensive tackle Connor Williams was also on the USA Today Sports team and both were both named honorable mention All-Big 12, along with four other true freshmen, including CB Davante Davis, P Michael Dickson, CB Holton Hill and OG Patrick Vahe.
