AUSTIN — Saying he’s concerned about dwindling attendance and the “erosion” of relationships between Texas’ sports program and its fans, interim athletic director Mike Perrin said Wednesday his first priority is to reach out to alumni and rebuild their trust.
“The seriousness of the job I’ve been asked to do is very important to me,” said Perrin, a Houston attorney who played linebacker at UT in the 1960s.
Perrin was appointed by president Greg Fenves to replace Steve Patterson, who was forced out on Tuesday after receiving widespread criticism from fans and alumni about his corporate-minded approach.
