Charles Edward Munson Sr., a member of The University of Texas' first National Championship team in 1949 and a 2008 inductee into the Texas Athletics Hall of Honor, passed away in Austin on May 22, 2019. He was 95 years old.
Munson originally enrolled at The University of Texas in 1942 and was a member of the freshman baseball, basketball and football teams before leaving in 1943 to serve his country in World War II as pilot for the Army Air Corps.
After re-enrolling at UT in 1946, Munson became a mainstay on the Texas Baseball team, playing for legendary coach Bibb Falk.
