By the end of Saturday's Orange-White Spring Game, Texas players will have been afforded 15 practices to make their case.
New coach Tom Herman suggested this week that's more than enough. In other words, don't expect many second chances in August to make a first impression.
"Training camp is about getting ready to go and win a game, game one," Herman said. "So there's not been a whole lot of time for guys to earn their spot on the depth chart before training camp, and we've told them that.
"When we leave spring practice you'll have a definitive pecking order of guys that we trust, guys that are on the cusp, guys that are probably a year away, and then probably guys that will never be there.
