When the NCAA women’s tournament bracket was officially unveiled on Monday afternoon, the suspense was gone for most of the 64-team field.
But that couldn’t take the luster off of Baylor’s accomplishment. For the third time in four years, Baylor earned a No. 1 seed heading into the tournament.
However, it might be more noteworthy this season. Baylor (31-1) earned the tournament’s top overall seed. It will host 16-seed Abilene Christian (23-9) at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Waco, which will host first and second round games of the Greensboro region.
Baylor’s sixth No. 1 seed since 2011 is a reward for one of the team’s best seasons in recent years.
