NEW ORLEANS -- The bad blood between Texas and Georgia started early -- in what was supposed to be an innocuous meeting of two live mascots.
During a pre-game photo op, photographers surrounded Uga, the white English bulldog that serves as Georgia's mascot. Then Texas' Bevo XV, got away from its handlers in its containment area on the field and charged UGA, scattering the dog and dozens of media. No one was injured in the scary situation.
Bevo XV, who turns 4 later this month, weighed 1,100 pounds when it was introduced as Texas' new mascot in 2016 and looks considerably larger now.
