AUSTIN, Texas – University of Texas senior swimmer Townley Haas was named a finalist for the 89th James E. Sullivan Award, the AAU announced on Monday. Haas is looking to become the first Longhorn in any sport to take home the prestigious award that honors the top amateur athlete in collegiate athletics.
Haas is an Olympic gold medalist, seven-time NCAA champion and holds 15 Big 12 titles. Townley will look to make it a four-year sweep in the 200 free at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships when it comes to Austin next week.
