BUDAPEST, Hungary – Texas junior Townley Haas and former Longhorn Jack Conger helped Team USA to third place and a bronze medal in the 4x200-meter freestyle relay Friday night at the 17th FINA World Championships.
The Texas tandem, who helped the U.S. to gold in the event at the 2016 Olympic Games, joined Blake Pieroni and Zane Grothe to win bronze in 7 minutes, 3.18 seconds. Great Britain won the gold in 7:01.70 while Russia won silver in 7:02.68.
The Americans held second place after Pieroni's leadoff leg before Haas split an impressive 1:44.
