Things took a weird turn earlier today when news broke that Texas freshmen linebacker Cecil Cherry had opted to transfer out of the program, but apparently the bad news didn’t stop there. Now redshirt freshmen running back Duke Catalon has opted to leave the team as well before ever taking a snap as a Longhorn.
Catalon’s departure definitely raises a few eyebrows, as he was an offensive player a lot of fans were anxious to see hit the field this fall. After watching practice over the weekend, I observed that Catalon was taking snaps with the third team offense, so that may have played a factor into his decision to leave now.
