On an Early Signing Day during which 20 of the 21 Texas Longhorns signees sent in their National Letters of Intent over the course of about two hours, the day’s biggest drama is arguably reserved for the 6:30 p.m. Central decision from Jasper linebacker Tyanthony Smith between the Longhorns and the Texas A&M Aggies, who have held his commitment since late June.
The glaring remaining need in the 2024 class for head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff is at the linebacker position where the Longhorns have yet to secure a commitment.
After Jimbo Fisher was fired by the Aggies last month, the Longhorns worked to secure a visit from Smith with one reportedly scheduled for the regular-season finale against the Red Raiders.
