The Texas Longhorns got back on the board in the class of 2023 with the addition of four-star safety Jamel Johnson.
Texas was waiting for the next commitment for the 2023 cycle and started it with one of the top players at the position. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound defender from Seguin (Arlington) High School is the No. 187 player in the country and the No. 27 player in the state. Johnson picked Texas out of a final group that included the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Texas A&M Aggies.
