Texas has scored a big recruiting win in D-FW.
Four-star Plano East safety Tyler Owens gave the Longhorns a verbal pledge on Monday afternoon.
He announced his decision via Twitter.
Owens committed to Texas over offers from Baylor, Boston College, Illinois, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska, UCLA, Vanderbilt and others.
Plano East is currently 4-0 thanks in large part to Owens and its defense, which is allowing just 10.5 points per game.
At 6-foot-2, 202 pounds, Owens is ranked as the No. 26 safety in the country and No. 38 overall prospect in the state of Texas, per 247Sports Composite.
