One day after signing a new recruiting class, SMU might have found the immediate answer to its quarterback question.
Shane Buechele, who started 19 games at Texas and threw for 4,363 yards, announced Thursday on Twitter that he will transfer to SMU after graduating with a degree in sports management. Because Buechele played just two games this past season, he qualifies for a redshirt under new NCAA rules and will have two years of eligibility remaining beginning next season.
SMU is in the market for a proven starting quarterback with the departure of Ben Hicks, who left for Arkansas as a graduate transfer.
