Former McKinney North track star wins world title, is latest Dallas-area product to win gold in international competition this summer

Former McKinney North track standout Julia Madubuike became an under-20 world champion Sunday.

Madubuike, who just finished her freshman year at Texas A&M, ran on the United States' gold-medal winning 4x400-meter relay team at the IAAF World U20 Championships in Tampere, Finland. Madubuike ran the third leg as the U.S. women won with a time of 3:28.74, which was a second off the meet record of 3:27.60 set by the United States in 2004.

Also on Sunday, Mansfield Lake Ridge's Jasmine Moore placed 10th in the women's triple jump with a leap of 13.09 meters (42 feet, 11.
