Texas has filled one of its three football assistant coach vacancies.
The school announced the hiring Saturday of former Longhorn Anthony Johnson as the team's running backs coach. He replaces Tommy Robinson, who left after two seasons to return to Southern California.
Johnson had spent the past two seasons at Toledo. The Rockets' running attack averaged more than 200 yards per game each of the past two seasons while leading the Mid-American Conference in rushing. He joins a reworked offensive staff that includes new OC Sterlin Gilbert.
"Our entire staff thought that Anthony was a perfect fit to coach our running backs," coach Charlie Strong said.
