Former Duncanville star Ariel Atkins scored a game-high 20 points Tuesday to help the Washington Mystics advance to the WNBA Finals for the first time in franchise history with an 86-81 win over the Atlanta Dream in Game 5 of a best-of-5 league semifinal series.
Atkins, a rookie from the University of Texas, was 6-for-14 from the field and 8-for-8 from the free throw line. She added seven rebounds and three assists as the Mystics advanced to play the Phoenix Mercury or Seattle Storm in the Finals.
Atkins ranked 30th in the WNBA in scoring in the regular season, averaging 11.
