Jerrod Heard sets a new Texas total offense record with 527 combined yards (364 passing/163 rushing)
AUSTIN, Texas — Despite a new single-game record 527 combined yards from redshirt freshman quarterback Jerrod Heard, a furious Texas fourth-quarter rally came up just short on Saturday night in front of 91,568 fans at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, as the Longhorns fell to California, 45-44.
UT had nearly fought its way out of a 21-point fourth quarter hole, with Heard scampering 45 yards with 1:11 left on the clock, before missing what would have been the game-tying extra point.
